Remeber to Live!

Hi there, this is a quick one. A few days ago, I put up a post on my Whatsapp status asking if teleological suspension of happiness(or delayed gratification) is a smart or noble thing to do. A few days after,  life answered my question.

I recently got a job and although the pay is good, initially, it was never enough. I had to watch my spending. I cut down on a lot of things, made sure I spent only when it was absolutely necessary, i.e I only spent my money on food(the cheapest I could get) and transport to and from work.  It was pretty hard, but at least my savings was growing exponentially.

Just when I thought life was good my friend at work, mistakenly smashed my laptop and phone. Other than a horrible crack, my phone was fine, my laptop however, had to go and be with the lord.  It was spoilt beyond repairs and later that night the battery exploded almost choking me to death in the room.

It was then I truly understood that life is short and you cannot afford to postpone your happiness  all in the name of a better tomorrow that is guaranteed to no one.  So why not live everyday of your life like it were your last, cause it really could be.

I'm not saying you should jeopardize your future all in the name of living in the now.  You should try and strike a balance. Make plans for your future, but not to the detriment of your present. You have to set your priorities straight and now is your priority, cause "now" is all we've got.

Have a lovely weekend guys!

A Happy New Year!

Happy New Year
New year new me, lol. Really never been the type to make new year's resolutions,  but this year I've gone through the stress of laying out a couple of resolutions for myself, part of which is writing this blog. I've been putting off starting this blog for so long, I've literally written two first posts asides this one. It's ridiculous, I've been trying to get the perfect post to start with, a post that'll get my readers captivated and wanting to come back for more. Still don’t think this is that perfect post but heck, I'm taking the plunge anyways.

My boss just shared a post of an interview with Tai Sholarin where he prayed for everyone to have a rough road. He believes life is a mix of both good and bad and that most times, we have to go through rough patches in other to get to that blissful side. He emphasized  how most times the difference between successful people and the other guys is the amount and degree of risks they take. So basically the more risks we take the more likely we are to succeed but then the more likely we are to face tougher struggles. So this year one of my resolutions is to take as many risks as possible. If you're reading this post, I advise you to do the same, cause the truth is, you really have nothing to lose. Like they usually say, you only regret the things you didn’t do. So take that risk today, no matter how scary.
How to take risk: Usually we're advised to take calculated risks. This is smart, cause we really can't take stupid risks and expect our lives to be better off, but the question is how do you know that a risk is calculated enough? For me, I just decide whether it is worth it. That means even if I fail I'll have no regrets cause I know I tried, I got to learn something new and have a new experience. This was how I got my girlfriend.  Everyone told me the relationship won't work out and that I shouldn’t bother going after her otherwise I'd end up heartbroken, but I knew I truly wanted her and that if at all I didn’t get to spend the rest of my life with her, the thrill of trying to make her mine would be one I'd cherish for life. Luckily she agreed to be my girl and I can tell you she's one of the best things that ever happened to me.

What risks have you always wanted to take? You want to quit your job? Start your business? Get a girl? This year, I urge you to shoot your shot, cause life is too short not to try. Like this blog, just do it and I promise, you'll be better off.

About The Mind Behind MindThrills

Hi guys, my name is Jetoluwa George, people call me Jeto, but for the sake of this blog, you guys can call me "The Life Hackitect", yeah I like the sound of that lol, It makes me sound cool of which I am hahaha. I digress. Anyways, I am a passionate student of psychology, I live, breathe and eat psychology. In fact, I once wrote in an application letter that, I'm willing to go to the extent of getting the liver of a virgin mosquito to become the greatest psychologist lol. I digress again. Anyways, I'm also a very good student of life.

I love to learn from experiences, people, events and what have you. I believe in what is called "The Ubiquitous Assimilation". That is, learning everything, everywhere, at the same time. In other words, I'm the kind of guy that will tell you the moral of Tom and Jerry, cause I believe there's always something to learn from anyone and anything. So I know a lot about a lot of things. Which is why I have chosen to start this blog.

I have spoken to a lot of people in the past who were so awed by my knowledge that they had to ask if I ever think about writing and my response was  "yes, as a matter of fact, I write" and they are like: "then you should think of publishing". I considered it and decided to start a blog where I can share my thoughts and knowledge on different interesting, important and controversial topics. Topics so interesting, they'll make you want more, topics so controversial, that people usually shy away from them, but yet are so important that they can get anyone ahead in life.

I'm going to be sharing my ideas on several topics on career, love, business, social life, relationships, productivity, depression, self optimization, education, motivation, haha, check out the rhymes, lol. Anyways, more seriously, there are so many things we're going to be discussing on this blog and I can assure you that whatever I share is bound to improve your perspective about life and make you lead a better life. By you, I mean everybody.

Also it should be noted that this blog is going to be as interactive as possible and so there will be guest writers from time to time and anyone of you is welcomed to be a guest writer. So, I'll always be open to request, suggestions, complaints and constructive criticism, so please feel free to share your comments below or send me an email on thelifehackitect@gmail.com. On a final note, I hope to have a wonderful blogging experience with you guys.

I hope to be a source of motivation, inspiration and guide to everyone of you. I hope that from reading "MindThrills", you all will experience an improvement in every aspect of your life and you'll begin to enjoy life more than you ever have. I also hope to learn a lot from you and to be a happier person cause of everyone of you. I look forward to having a splendid time. Cheers.
